The Wheels on the Bus Campaign

Why are we starting this campaign now? We have a time limit of 2017, after which we will no longer be able to use the current vans. The church will need to replace the vans before 2017. Raising the funds necessary to purchase new buses for the center will take time.

How many buses do we need? 2 Multi Function School Activity Buses (MFSAB), which will accommodate at least 26 children.

What is our goal? To raise $90,000 to purchase two buses for NBCC. Raise at least $45,000 and purchase one bus by September, 2013 or earlier. Raise additional $45,000 and purchase second bus by September, 2014 or earlier.

What are the advantages of the new buses? Updated safety features, including: Constructed to school bus standards; Sturdy frames; Bigger mirrors; Built in car seats; NBCC ownership of the buses enables easier scheduling for bus usage. Reliability.

New Booster Seat Law

The new child safety belt law began Wednesday, October 7, 2009. In short, the new requirements are as follows:

  - Every child under 8 years of age and less than 4’9” in height must ride in a booster seat or other child safety seat

  - Every child aged eight-to-fifteen who is not secured by a child safety seat must be secured by the vehicle’s safety belt.

For our center, that means that every child will need to have a full car seat or booster seat for any transportation, especially field trips.

For details on the new laws and more information about safely securing your child, visit these websites:
